Minister Dr. Jeanne d’ Arc Mujawamariya Meets with Denmark Delegation

Kigali, 27 April, 2021- Today, Honorable Minister Dr Jeanne d’ Arc Mujawamariya met with the delegation from the Kingdom of Denmark led by Minister of development and cooperation, Hon. Flemming Moller MORTENSEN and Minister of Immigration and integration, Hon. Mathias TESFAYE who are on a 4 days working visit in Rwanda aimed at consolidating bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The Ministry of Environment is one of the key partners visited by the Danish delegation starting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of in Charge of Emergency Management.

During their discussions, they have explored potential areas of partnership in the field of Environment and climate change. Experience sharing, Youth role in sustainable development as agents of change and many other topics were at the center of the discussions. Based on mutual interests as countries with ambitious climate goals, Ministers from both countries committed to jointly working on a MoU that will highlight potential areas for Rwanda/Danish Cooperation in the field of Environment and Climate change

Denmark Minister for development Cooperation, Flemming Moller MORTENSEN mentioned: "Partnership is key to reach our global goals and collaboration is the way to do it. We have one planet and we have to live by taking our responsibilities." And he also emphasized on Climate importance by adding: "Climate is among the top 3 priorities in the revised strategy of the Kingdom of Denmark along with Immigration and human rights".

Minister Dr Jeanne d’ Arc Mujawamariya: “During our cooperation we wish to exchange knowledge, experience between schools and youth, environmental sound technologies and our cooperation will boost green investments in our respective countries”.

During the meeting the Rwanda Minister of Environment has highlighted potential area of cooperation in environment and climate change and these areas will be assessed by both parties and shared in a Memorandum of Understanding that will be drafted by nominated focal points.
